General Information

Purposes:
- To provide qualified education that will develop theoretical and practical competencies in the fields of social policy, labor economics, industrial relations, human resources, labor and social security law,
- To provide qualified training infrastructure for the employment of effective, visionary, talented experts and managers in public and private sector organizations and non-governmental organizations,
- To contribute to the production of scientific knowledge in the relevant field at national and international level.

Goals:
- To raise individuals who can understand the functioning and problems of labor markets,
- To educate individuals who have knowledge about the institutional and organized labor market,
- To raise individuals who can produce effective social policy measures for the reduction of poverty, the welfare and peace of the society,
- To educate individuals who have the knowledge to evaluate and manage human resources in the best way in all institutions and organizations,
- To educate individuals who have knowledge about basic laws and practices in the field of Labor and Social Security Law,
- To raise individuals who are conscious of social, scientific and professional ethical values, who are moral, personable, responsible, critical and solution-oriented, prone to teamwork, and have leadership characteristics,
- To raise individuals with the capacity to do useful work for their environment, family and country,
- To carry out innovative academic studies for the development of scientific knowledge at national and international level.

Degree to be taken:
- The department is subject to the 240 ECTS credits first stage undergraduate degree system in the field of 'Labor Economy and Industrial Relations' in higher education.
- When the program is successfully completed and the qualifications are provided, a 'Bachelor's Degree' is obtained in the field of 'Labor Economics and Industrial Relations'.

Program Outcomes:
To have theoretical and applied knowledge at national and international levels in the fields of Labor Economics, Industrial Relations, Social Policy, Human Resources and Labor and Social Security Law and to be able to use them in the working environment
Having a command of the basic legislation on Industrial Relations and being able to apply and interpret them in practical situations.
To be able to value social justice and have social justice awareness
In addition to having Turkish written and oral communication proficiency, to be able to express theoretical and practical information accurately and effectively, to convey information and thoughts in a way that others can understand, to have the ability to interpret and criticize and to have high persuasion power.
Ability to think critically, reasoning to identify strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, evaluations and ways of approaching problems, obtaining and analyzing information from different sources, as well as using initiative
Having numerical and statistical research skills and thinking skills, being able to predict the results of the decisions to be taken in line with these and make correct predictions; to consider causal relationships, to have an analytical mindset and to develop a strategic approach
Being prone to teamwork, having leadership qualities and having the ability to communicate with experts in other fields. Having knowledge in a foreign language, including word meaning, composition rules and grammar, and being able to use these qualities in oral and written communication
Having basic computer usage knowledge; Gaining knowledge about information systems used in human resources and labor relations and gaining the ability to use these software
Being aware of social, scientific and professional ethical values

General Admission Conditions:
- In order to enroll in the department, it is necessary to get enough points from the university entrance exam conducted by OSYM. Registrations to the department are made through the central system.
- It is possible to accept students to the department if they are successful in the Foreign Student System (YÖS) exam conducted within the scope of Sakarya University.

Special Conditions of Acceptance:
- It is possible to accept students to the department with programs approved by the university and whose boundaries are determined by an agreement.
- If you are successful in the horizontal transfer exams conducted by ÖSYM and the base score is obtained, you can transfer from the same departments of other universities to the department.

Recognizing Prior Learning:
- If the students can certify that they have taken the courses given in the department from another equivalent institution and that they have been successful, they are considered successful in those courses with the proposal of the faculty member of the relevant course and the decision of the department board. If the department deems it necessary, it has the right to measure the level of knowledge by applying an exam to the student.

Graduation Requirements:
- In order to graduate from the department, the following three conditions must be met:
1- Collecting sufficient credits: These are the credits collected from the courses to be taken each semester. Midterm exams are held in the middle of the semester and final exams are held at the end. There are also assignments and quizzes defined for each course. The grades taken from all the activities defined for the course are calculated and the success of the course is calculated. The proportional distribution of the activity grades is at the discretion of the lecturer of the course. When the courses are successful and sufficient credits are collected (240 ECTS), one of the conditions for graduation is met.
2- Completing a Graduation Work and Succeeding in Defense: Final year students prepare a graduation work on the subjects of their field of education. The Graduation Work is prepared in accordance with scientific rules and ethics, under the supervision of one of the faculty members of the department. Studies can be at the theoretical level, but preferably should include empirical research. In order for the graduation work to be taken, the student's GPA must be at least 1.8. Students with a lower grade point average cannot take a graduation work. When the work is completed, it is defended against a three-person jury formed among the faculty members of the department. Those who successfully pass the defense are deemed to have completed this stage for graduation.
3- Completion of Compulsory Internship: Students have to spend their last semester doing internship within the framework of 7+1 application. Approval of the internship place is under the responsibility of the department chair and the faculty. The department head has the right not to approve the internship place offered by the student. The duration of the internship is 14 full weeks. During this period, the work accident and occupational disease premiums of the students are paid by the University. At the end of 14 weeks, students deliver the document containing the employer's opinion and approval from the internship place to the advisor to the faculty member. The relevant faculty member examines the internship documents and gives the required grade. Students who complete the internship phase are entitled to graduate.

Quantification and consideration:
To be considered proficient in the courses given in the department, it is necessary to successfully complete a midterm exam (midterm), two quizzes, an assignment and the final exam (final) for each course. The proportional values of the measurement stages are determined by the lecturer of the course. The assessment and evaluation conditions for each course are included in the introduction and application form of the relevant course. Employment Opportunities: Graduates of the Department of Labor Economics and Industrial Relations can be employed in the public and private sectors as well as having the qualifications sought in non-governmental organizations.
